So i built this beauty of a reactor for an actively cooled and atm i am controlling it with a redstone port a cobblestone block a lever and a peice of redstone(using the redstone port to control the rods)

to maintain my power system i have been turning turbines on and off via redstone applyed to what feeds them steam(they simply stop receiving steam and outputting water when red stone signel is applyed)

however this means i am forever changing the rod depths my self as they are shutting down and starting up to keep the reactor from burning up too much yellorum(at full force it can burn a stack before the fmr laser drill setup that supports it can replace said stack and that's why i use an me to buffer my yellorim amounts)

what i am trying to achieve is as the casing tempature falls below x the rods slide out(thus increesing heat) and as the casing temperature rises above X they slide in(thus decreasing heat) computer fact was banned from the server because of so much abuse done with it so i am left with ender io redstone conduit vanila redstone project red and rednet to control the heat of my reactor.

any one have any ideas how to achieve this i been at it for days or am i doomed to continue micromanaging the big steam boiler

one way to do it: instead of fooling with the rods, just use the redstone ports to fully turn on/off the reactor. what i did was use 3 redstone ports. 1 set to active when reactor temp reaches a certain value, and another set to active when reactor temp drops below another value. use a project red latch that takes those 2 ports as inputs, and connect the latch output to a third redstone port, this one set to turn on reactor on high signal, off on low. turning off the reactor means no fuel consumption until target cooldown temp is met, then it turns on, heats up, then turns off again once the upper temp limit is hit. you could probably manage control rod percentages with this method, but i havent tried that yet.

im curious how you managed to make a reactor that burns through so much fuel. if it goes thru it that fast, can you not make a magic crop that grows uranium? the uranium ore from that crop will melt down into yellorium ingots (that assumes the server has ic2 enabled, and BR has the uranium->yellorium conversion enabled)

thats only when the rods are at 0 they are most commonly around 80% generating some 5 turbines at 2000mbt

the real issue width fuel is i don't have the productions to keep it on full force

given the reactors size i cant help but think that reactor is going to be like a dam strobe light still going to try it though

New information:

Steve i was right i set it up to turn on and off and got a disco reactor all it needed was the ball

however it did lead me to a discovery i now have the reactor set that i only have 2 redstone ports set up in a manor that is it goes above 1500 c the rods go all the way in and when it drops below 1500 it pulls the rods out comparable to maxim turbine load

i then have a refresh timer that forces the system to look am i above or below heat(i find that sometimes during restarts the reactor freezes on a setting i have the same refresh setup on my rednetted passive)

oh an i have all this being run threw the rednet controller for gates and such if i could figure out how to move the rods with the rednet controller that would make it sweet as hell letting me keep it right on the mark set by the redstone port
