Mac 30-50FPS on a 2 week old mac

I purchased a new mac a few weeks ago, and I'm only getting 30-50fps :-/ I'm running the latest version of Mavericks. I know Java is a mightmare but I was expecting to get a hell of a lot more than 30-50fps. Is there any way to increase the FPS? When playing FTB unleashed I'm getting so many yellow and red warning messages too and I'm playing on Minecraft 1.5.2, here's the logs:

Just because your mac is only two weeks old does not mean it is good for gaming.

What are your system specs?

But with a computer this powerful and up to date, you'd at least expect it to be able to run FTB easily :-/ I have the 21.5-inch: 2.9GHz version with fusion drive:

imacs use glorified laptop hardware. you paid out the nose for a small footprint on your desk, not necessarily for raw power

based on your hardware 30-50 fps sounds about right, depending on what pack you're running.

The cost seems quite expensive for the specs of that system. Try using the jvm arguments from the thread linked below. The red & yellow warnings are normal and nothing to worry about. Copy and paste them into the java parameters box in advanced options.

2gb dedicated VRAM? just 50fps? seems like memory leaking that happens to me before
