What is the bug:
When you look at the inverted sky block (from Open blocks) you crash .

Yes Place one I should note that I did this on a server. and not single player.
Known Fix:
Non so far. But you can look away from it as you log in and it should let you play but as soon as you look at it or in that direction it will crash you.
