    I've found a solution here: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/small-stutter-every-1-5-second-on-local-server.28865/ Basically tacking on nogui to the server launch parameters removes the GUI, which to my best knowledge seems to be holding up the server on some sort of sleep timer.
