Orespawn sounds nothing like the vanilla-like experience i'm looking for. It sounds more like something that would totally ruin the vanilla experience.

I had a similar problem with another game, and it was simply my graphics card overheating that caused it. So you might want to check the temp of your graphics card when this happens.

If I understood you correctly, you are using wireless connection, try connecting your computer with a wire instead, and see if that solves the problem. Untill we are 100% sure it's not the internet connection, we can not help you. Personally i'm 99% sure it's your connection.

I personally never got the 1.4.6 versions from the official forumpage to work with my 1.4.7 though, but i might just be me :P

Are you sure that you got 2gb RAM? because that is clearly the problem then, as you are giving it more ram than you actually have available.

My uneducated guess would be that you have more than 1 java version installed. if not, i hope that someone else can help you. Your anti virus might be the problem aswell, but as it does not happen all the time, it's probably not that.

I dont think there is an official release that supports 1.4.7, i might be wrong though, i got my 1.4.7 optifine from a 3rd party site though.

Are you using a wireless connection, if so, thats most likely the problem. If not, you should contact or change your ISP, because the problem is your connection, assuming the fact that none else have problems connecting to the server.

Well, optifine is probably your only choice then, but even with optifine, i think you will get unplayable FPS when it comes to FTB, or any other major modpack. I dont know what the rules arround links here for downloads are, but it seems like you downloaded the wrong Optifine version. Try...

If i'm going to be totally honest, i'm not sure Optifine will help you, i simply think your CPU is to bad. With vanilla minecraft, what's your average FPS?

I know the thread is a bit old now, but if you can give us your system specs, we might be able to help you out with why it's "laggy".

You could always try googling "'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command". There are both videos, and text to explain how to fix this. Or do as Nessiroj said, uninstall and install it again.
