I have a similar problem. It takes a while to load the game (between 30-45 minutes). You just have to leave it till it loads. I'm not sure why it takes so long...

I don't know too much, but it looks to me like a problem with java. Have you tried updating it? The latest version is Java 8 Update 65 (click here). Or, if your computer is a 64-bit machine, use this one: Windows Offline (64-bit) (click). Hope this helps. :)

It looks like it might not have enough memory. Try allocating more.

Just tested.. I enclosed the Wither and wisps in a 16x8x8 of XY Shields.. The Wither killed all the wisps in one shot. O.o

You need to go into Creative mode (not creative+ from NEI) and cheat in a notebook. It should have all the symbols in it.
