I had a singular pump underneath, and it auto-output. I also had it connected to my power system., so it should have been continuously powered Typing this, I now realise that it probably was the switch over to mekanism power wires that resulted in the explosion, since there's compatibility...

It should be within visual range of wherever you right clicked it from, if it's in the end. Less than 20 blocks away The only thing I can suggest off the top of my head is just excavate the surrounding area if you can't see it straight away.

Yeah, I've worked out what it was. It was the fact the monster spawner was in spawn chunks. moved it and now it works fine.

Been at least 3 minecraft days, and I have another monster spawning platform that only works at night. I'll try raising the roof. EDIT: It didn't work EDIT 2: Others have this problem, apparently mobs can't spawn AT spawn. I'll move it now.
