Flowly liquid blocks is the biggest fps killer, and so easy to miss. I remember runing multiple quarries back in 1.2.5 days and carved through some rivers. Trying to fix that creatively at 0-1fps was "interesting".

The Pollution system is causing some issues, seems if there's no where for the pollution exhaust to go, pressure builds up and blocks go boom. Realistic and unexpected. I'm looking into some non-destructive options.

You could include Geolosys, disable it's oregen system, then use CoFH World to spawn in it's ores instead. When I was experimenting with a pack design ages ago, I had the same thought, used Geolosys, then started to encounter issues, then used CoFH World to spawn it.

In my pack Manufactio, I'm balancing mobs vs "griefing". There's a lot more restrictions in place for preventing spawns (sleeping every night should result in a fairly peaceful experience), as a result, caves are mob holes, or yeah, play on peaceful.
