SENSE AND SUSTAINABILITY; GROWLE’S FTB GUIDE TO RENEWABLE ENERGY

Er, right, just remembered. Forestry is pushing through a new 'feature' in the newest version: biomass yield from saplings is now proportional to Sappiness, where non-Forestry saplings have lowest sappiness. Maximum sappiness is 150% of previous yield, but lowest is apparently substantially...

    Cool contraptions to build

Given that sappiness previously only determined how fast fruit grew, I suppose something like this was in the works for a long time. Out of curiosity, though: the forestry wiki gives out water and fertilizer consumption, but how often is that cost taken? Once a block, once a growth cycle...?

    Electron Tubes and Circuit Boards

Could it be that tubes won't attach until you have enough? The intricate board, in particular, takes 4. If you only want to stick one on, go with the basic board - http://forestry.sengir.net/wiki.new/doku.php?id=crafting:carpenterrecipes#circuit_boards

    [MindCrack] Solar Boilers?

In the older version of Factorization (which is apparently being retired?), you'd put the reflective mirrors around a solar turbine, with an infinite water source set up under the turbine; the water would be drawn into the turbine, the turbine would turn, the water would regenerate, and so on. I...

Creating an endless lava ocean on Mystcraft?

I'm pretty sure the biome is supposed to go before the controller. Like: Ocean Biome, Single Biome, etc. Otherwise, it won't register correctly. Also, I'm not sure what happens if you put two 'adjectives' into the standard terrain - does only one of them work, or do they both?

    Cool contraptions to build

Actually, I think that's what people are talking about - that recipe was removed recently. That said, if you're using any of the packs, I think Thaumic Bees has a way to make fertilizer. It uses Vis, obviously, but it is renewable if you set up enough crystal clusters. (And anyway, it's not like...

    Ultimate pack, Inoculator issue

That's not exactly what he's doing - he's not isolating traits, but inoculating them. Still, I agree that something like that might be what's going on, although I'd like to get a more expert opinion first.

i want to use four gigs

Of course, to use Java x64, you'll need to: 1) have a 64 bit OS (standard nowadays, but only recently), and 2) if you have a 32-bit browser, like Firefox, you'll have to pick a different installation than the default. After that, I think there's a slider somewhere that you'll be able to set as...

Early Ways to Power Matter Fabricator

That said, plan for patience: I seem to recall doing the math before, and I think I found that getting enough iridium ore for a plate costs 500 MILLION EU. Really, I'm under the impression that you're really not meant to use the fab until you either 1) get some iridium from the end for lightning...

How do I smelt netherrack into nether brick

Strictly speaking, the induction smelter (the TE thing) also has a recipe involving soul sand and netherrack, but honestly, it's probably easier to use a compressor.

    Safe nuclear reactor designs?

Of course, in most of the FTB, there is the reactor control mod. You can use that to set your reactor to shut down if the temperature gets too high - in which case more dangerous designs become viable...

    How to generate 512 EU/t

You know, I haven't actually seen a GT nuclear reactor thread here. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in it, myself included - the design space has mostly only been explored for one-reactor pure IC2 stuff. (I mean, that doesn't even include the "cooling tower" setup.)

    Gregtech Quarry

Incidentally, making a diamond drill in the GT standard configuration also requires titanium - look for brownish ore under forests and plains to get bauxite. Once you get access to titanium, if you haven't already got a silk touch tool, you might also look into the electric rock cutter - a...

Most Powerful energy source there is?

There is something of a difficulty here - there's an obvious answer, but it's almost certainly not the one you want. Once you get enough iridium, setting up an Ultimate Solar factory would do it - you could feed the iridium into more and more solar panels, hence more and more power, etc, etc...

    Moderate Flux and Pure Bees

Hmm... brainstorming a bit. Are there any flux-producing nodes nearby? Like a dark node or something. Flux flows a little from node to node, so that might be it...

Out of curiosity, is it possible to get soul stealer on a thaumium with repair?

Information on New Gregtech Update? [Mindcrack v8.2.0]

Apparently the wiremill is somewhat more efficient at producing copper cables - you need only one ingot for three wires, compared to three for six.

Foresty: Why is breeding Corroded and Tarnished Bees so difficult?

Er. Sorry to tell you this, but the 'recipe' for metallic bees changed recently. If you have the newest version of extra bees, it's now Resilient and Diligent.

    Help With Repair Enchantment plz!?

This isn't precisely correct... The elemental tools are enchantable with Repair, and do require a lot of research and the altar. However, the plain thaumium tools can also get Repair, and only require the T1 thaumium research - essentially, you just transmute some thaumium, and use it to make...

What is the best way to get 21 fusion coils?

As long as we're talking about bees... There are bees that produce redstone (surprisingly easy to breed) and ruby (no idea). That said, it isn't really anything exciting until you put a whole bunch in apiaries with nine frame housings each. The advantage of bees is that they scale pretty...
