I quite frankly don't give a flying f#$% about whatever pissing contest mDyio and Greg got into in the past. I'm focused on the current issue at hand. From what I can see mDyio didn't like Greg making his mod cost more. mDyio's change also did not break Gregtech, no more than he has "broken"...

The answer to both your questions is the same: Almost all mods revolve around the simple recipe that 1 log = 4 planks. This change is much bigger than Vanilla Minecraft because it changes a mechanism used by all mods, indirectly nerfing (abeit slightly in some cases) them.

So Greg can change other mod's recipes to his liking without a config (the bronze nerf and tin bucket nerf config option zomg u wnt creitive hur u go 111 items!11! does NOT count), but when Gregtech breaks another mod with his nerf, and that modder actually takes a stand against it, Greg decides...

I'd honestly like to know why nerfing wood a.) needed to be done in the first place and b.) why this nerf was so important that Greg had to intentionally crash the game over it.

The more people tolerate this behavior, the more they are enabling him to do something even worse then just crashing the client.

When I start a new world, i cheat myself in stone tools. All you do with wood tools is use them like 3 times then either dump them, or burn them as fuel in a furnace. I play on peaceful, so I also cheat in a Peaceful table from Extra Utilities and a chest for it, then put in a sword of some kind...

Thermal Expansion + MFR + Railcraft. I can't pick just one.

I always love a good survey... :D I also like that I'm not that only one that prefers Peaceful. Makes me feel better about playing FTB with that difficulty.

yes, yes but those are boring. and i want real lights such as, chandeliers, street lights, etc. Not a flat fluorescent light.

I'd like a lighting mod that uses a power source (EU/MJ/UE/etc) to use, and if you run out of power, your lights go out and then you have mobs spawn :p Would pretty much only be a "cosmetic" mod, but I think it would be interesting thing to integrate into builds.
