He did say that it does not even work with the base sphax textures which makes me think it is something else. That log indicates that you are playing the 1.5.2 dw pack not 1.6.4 are you sure that you are not using the wrong texture pack.

Try removing java 8 and using version 7 because afaik ftb does not support version 8. Make sure to reboot after doing both things.
