I don't think Forge Essentials has a built in auto-restart. For that, you are best to start your server with a server-wrapper. There are many available but one I would recommend is Remote Toolkit. It is nice and lightweight, using only 30MB of memory, and the Bukkit plugin is not required for it...

No, your saved game will be in the FTB launcher install directory which it should remember even if you re-download the launcher.

If you are using the .exe version of the launcher, have you added the launcher itself as an exception to your firewall?

It appears this is an out of memory error. Have you tried increasing the amount of memory allocated to FTB in the options tab?
