Dire has his railway. Maybe the rails aren't a good substitute to mystcraft, but if that's all you're comparing, then compare all the subscribers for all the members of mindcrack, vs dire&others. No one on the mindcrack server uses mystcraft because none of them have it.

I think it's a big stretch to do so. Time spent isn't a very good measure of difficulty imo.

The most popular modded minecraft lets plays are Mindcrack, Direwolf20 and Yogscast. Now I have no idea about the yogs anymore, and I don't watch all of the Mindcrackers, but from what I've seen, Direwolf does use rails quite a bit, and so does Etho. Zisteau has used them in the nether hub... I...

it may not be the most popular of mods but it's certainly used enough to class the phrase "barely anyone uses it" complete and utter bullshit. And IF (major emphasis on if) it was declining in popularity, the likes of Etho are certainly helping it become much more popular. I hate the word...

ah well, still... Railcraft is still a hugely popular mod and it's ridiculous to assume otherwise. Just because the likes of Lewis and Simon don't use it all that much doesn't mean it's not popular.

And the blast furnace? iirc you need steel to make an industrial blast furnace (I'm not sure though because I've never made one, Linda did)

Hardly anyone uses it? In a control group of how many people? Just you? Everyone who uses GT is using Railcraft, its a pretty popular mod. And it's KingLemming not Lemmon... :/
