Lots. it all boils down to render distance, how many and how powerful your computer. if theres many in your field of view its going to cause lag. Same applies to anything that not just a block

The growth slows down once you get way up there. Unless you drain the node before feeding it. Next time I find one, im going to feed it mobs mwahahahaaa.

Yeah, I like to set up the furnace at the edge of my farms and use pipes to send the herba to four lamps spaced out evenly, one block above the crops. The middle block under the water is where I place the EIO vacuum chest because I love harvest golems but not so much the gather ones.

Yes and seeds and all crops. Netherwort works best in my experience, you get tons of it with a lamp of growth.

Thaumcraft has never caused me that sort of problem. Just go for it, it will be fine. Last time I did it, my energized node was all 12s and I think the aspects were around 300 pre-energization. or was it 600? Just keep feeding it til you cant stand waiting any longer.

Heck, I'd remove most of them. Ive tried almost every one on the list. It might seem stable now but chucking every single mod into the game all at once is doomed to failure. Besides, nobody will use even a third of the options available because they are rendered moot by easier mods.

Both methods work but the redstone ore one is easier IMO.
