Just watched the Applied Energistics 2 mod spotlight

Wouldn't Minetweaker (once updated, if updated?) allow us to add a recipe for the meteor loot? Call me a masochist, but I kind of like many of the new changes. It's a bit more in tune with how data transmission/routing works, however simplified it may be. It provides us engineering types with...

Solved Thermal Expansion 70,000+ u/s cause TPS drop, HELP!!!

Twenty five gigabytes... I'm not sure how that happens, nor how you make regular backups of it. Well, good luck in nailing down the problem. I'm going to continue keeping an eye on this thread just in case something similar starts happening on my server.

Solved Thermal Expansion 70,000+ u/s cause TPS drop, HELP!!!

Loading up your world in mcedit would be a might bit faster. You can just select all chunks, and remove every conduit/duct simultaneously using its item id. It sure beats trying to find all of the ducts by hand.

Solved Thermal Expansion 70,000+ u/s cause TPS drop, HELP!!!

I'm going to assume that the TE Handler deals with anything hooking into the TE API. Right now there are dozens of mods that use the TE API, most of which do so for Redstone Flux, including Ender IO. I have thousands upon thousands of Energy Conduits in my base. Right now they're still the most...

"Sticks & Starships": an upcoming voxel game with some links to FTB / Tekkit

If this delivers on even a fraction of what it promises, it may entirely restore my faith in voxel based sandbox games. I really enjoy the whole lost civilization feel your trailer presents. It reminds me a bit of an episode of Stargate Universe, where the crew of the Destiny crash lands on some...

Hosting a server at home with 50 people.

Correct. Bit of a hasty typo. I've been setting up a Prism database for the past two days so I have databases on the mind :). To be frank, I'm not sure where my mind was in my initial post. Using a bit calculator leaves me at 102.4mbps not 128. This is based off of the assumed 256kb/s...

Hosting a server at home with 50 people.

I was using megabits not megabytes. Datacenters usually go by megabits when advertising their bandwidth. I did this to illustrate that not even a one hundred megabit line (common for most budget plans) is going to sustain fifty users even on a good day. Quite a few people believe that their...

Hosting a server at home with 50 people.

By that logic, a basic Core2Duo running at smiler speeds would adequately support my current modpack, yet it does not. Multicore usage increases as demand on the server increases proportionally. This is far less efficient then dedicating individual tasks to individual cores however, still better...

Hosting a server at home with 50 people.

I like to comment on these threads because, well, it's one area I have quite a bit of experience in. While Minecraft isn't optimized as a multicore program, and neither is the vanilla server it does scale across multiple cores. Most people get confused as far as multicore support is concerned...

Lots of questions surrounding ram usage for server, and clients

This is more of a common misconception now. While Minecraft isn't built around multithreading and, certainly isn't properly optimized for it having multiple cores helps drastically. Here's a screenshot of load balancing across multiple cores while I'm playing: http://i.imgur.com/iwgKt57.png...

Lots of questions surrounding ram usage for server, and clients

I'm not sure what benchmarks are showing a negligible difference between a processor with two less cores, perhaps you are looking at single threaded application benchmarks? I have a couple of friends who switched away from their dual cores and saw pretty remarkable performance improvements...

    Dimension Doors?

Back when I used Dimensional Doors heavily (still waiting for some of the bugs to get ironed out) I used to place them in an isolated chunk that wasn't loaded for this exact reason. I suggest making a nexus, if you're going to continue using them. Place down a door in an unloaded, isolated...

Lots of questions surrounding ram usage for server, and clients

Modded Minecraft eats processors for breakfast. I give my client a healthy two gigs which is about all it needs. I've seen processor usage spike as high as thirty percent and, that's on a heavily overclocked i7. That dual core is going to bottleneck any memory upgrades you make so if you can...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Version 6 has been in development for a while now and, indeed it has just gone official. For any other Mekanism fans, it's well worth the upgrade but, before making that leap I suggest you read the developer notes on Aiden's blog. If you have a massive network of cables, upgrading will make...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Well shoot. It's been a while since I've seen one of these discussions. Rather then become fodder for another moderator mistaking dry humor for hostility I'll shelf my original post for this: The Minecraft community has once again shown that it lacks a proper understanding of Copyright law. It's...

    Adding Mo'creatures to FTB:monster?

I'm going to be the group stick in the mud and, suggest that you not install Mo'Creatures. I spent months tweaking it, leaving bug reports, working with friends on my server trying to get its catastrophically buggy Custom Mob Controls mod to play nice. Some wonderful issues you can expect from...

    UE Cable's dominate server tickrate

Yup, I have a good thirty machines running off of RF -> IC2 conversions. I usually do make bug reports, just wanted a confirmation from other users that it was in fact the cables ramping up cpu usage. I'm installing version 6.0.0.234, the latest version I have access to on the aforementioned...

    UE Cable's dominate server tickrate

I think you misinterpreted my post. Using entirely UE cables will generate massive cpu spikes. My previous setup involved nothing but UE cables. With the current state of the E-net I'm unwilling to use IC2 wires. The last thing I need is my workshop bursting into flames because of some slight...

GraveStone? where it go?! -MONSTER-1.09 : What happened to the GraveStones?

There's another mod out there that I use, it hasn't let me down yet. Here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1762087-164-smpssp-minecraft-graves-die-classy/ All it does is create a gravestone where you die. Other players can only steal a single item from a player's gravestone so it's also...

    UE Cable's dominate server tickrate

I've been relying heavily on the universal properties of Mekanism's Universal Cables for just about all of my power transferring needs, until today. For the past three days or so my VPS provider has been having a few CPU issues (probably node abuse again). This prompted me to seek out any and...
