    Well it is not a problem with your java. Many things cause this error but judging by your description of your problem this may be the cause: port forwarding/firewall/antivirus issues, since you can connect to localhost but not other servers.

    Software caused connection abort: recv failed -> Network error I think it's almost the equivalent of the WSAECONNABORTED (10053) error, there is a microsoft kb article about this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/204594. No guarantees though.

    Try adding this to the JVM arguments: -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -XX:+CMSPermGenSweepingEnabled -XX:PermSize=128m

    What is the API you mentioned in your post for? If it can somehow authenticate users from the forum, I could probably write an extension for the wiki that does that.
