This was because Mariculture got updated from Monster 1.1.0 to Monster 1.1.1. Enchiridion is a new requirement for the Books as of the latest Mariculture and Enchiridion was never in Monster.

This should work fine. When you're crafting a spell and it asks for a specific Nexus then flicking the switch after using the wrench should get it to connect. is this what you're trying to do?

I've played Unstable for quite a bit and never gotten this. Have you added any mods? Maybe it's a specific Biome causing this? Anyone else have any ideas?
