    [1.7.10][LISTED] InfiTech 2 Modpack v3.2.21 [HQM][GregTech balanced hard-mode modpack]

I went back to a save from about six months ago (GT 5.09) and same issue, the macerator will process cobble into sand, but the hopper won't insert it. I did try and search though config/scripts but couldn't find anything (still might be there, just couldn't find anything).

The resource costs come down once you get a few basic machines (bender, wiremill, polarizer).

That's not true - you can use hoppers and conduits. It's only the boilers that can't be automated (https://ftb.gamepedia.com/Steam_Machines_(GregTech_5)). You might be blocking the steam 'release' output side, which would stop the macerator working.

I agree with a lot of what you say, especially about the chunkloading issue, preventing you from exploring since exploration is such a huge part of the early game. Looking for ore veins takes a lot of time, and going on raiding expeditions for desert temples, greatwood trees, dungeons etc is...

Wow. I would never have thought of using explosives to get past tiers. In my last playthrough I did end up using a lot of sticky TNT (I think that's what it's callled) to mine but that was way into the LV era. Re using thaumcraft shards - some nice soul changed the recipe so that shard picks...

I just looked it up - it is tier 3, I'm afraid. One option might be a Thaumium pick - I'm pretty sure I found some of the non-GT versions in the chests under the Greatwood trees with cobwebs. Maybe @Pyure knows if these are good enough to mine obsidian and/or diamonds. Another, rather...

I can't remember, what level tool do you need to mine diamonds? Isn't it tier 3 anyway? In which case, just use the pick to mine obsidian.

Can I make a suggestion re copper and tin? Tin is notoriously difficult as it blends in a bit too well with normal stone. But, I've often found tin/cassiterite by carefully checking surface level caves. And it's worth following the caves as far as possible since you will find various veins...

In the chat, I get 'word completion' so only need to type in '/g' then click '/gamemode'. To get the options, I type a space and then can click one from 'adventure', 'creative' 'spectator' or 'survival'.

Enjoying reading about your pain journey! Couple of things ... '... it did NOT mention what biomes they were to be found in.' GT Oregen is not biome dependent. '... changed the properties of water so that it does not return when used.' That's not a GT thing, that's a Jason McRay thing ... If...

    Some question....again

The very first machines should be ... bending machine, wiremill and polarizer ... since they all save on resources.

    Some question....again

    No, biomes don't matter.

    Some question....again

That's odd (if I understand you). Maybe it's the version of Railcraft - the one I used (and still seems to be the working version in infitech2 is Railcraft_1.7.10-9.12.2.0.jar (found here: http://www.railcraft.info/releases/)

Hmm, what do you mean by 'smoked'?

    Some question....again

GT steam can be stored in Railcraft iron tanks and moved around using bronze pipes (for example).

    Some question....again

Yeah, getting to HV is pretty hard-core if you're doing this first-time around. Maybe experienced GT-ers have ways to zip through but in my experience it takes a long time. From memory, a seed produces exactly the same ore generation every time. Bauxite needs to be processed (maybe the...

    Some question....again

Ah I see. I look for tetra in extreme hills (between 80-120). My general early-game strategy is to get a 'normal' world set up ... basic tools, food, armour etc ... and then go on an extended tour of the surrounding regions making a note of every ore I find. And then a tour of all the local...

    Some question....again

Well, you can produce 96 EU with 3 basic turbines, but the recipe requires an extruder that can handle 96 EU. The basic extruder can only accept 32 EU. You can get copper from chalcopyrite as well as tetrahedrite. Usually found around level 10-32...

    Some question....again

The thing with GregTech is that there is a lot of carefully checking recipes etc in NEI before you take on any project, however large or small. There are many things that can trip you up. Here, for a 96 EU recipe, you need an extruder that can accept 96 EU, namely the tier 2 version (advanced)...

I remember doing what you're trying (using those conduits from magma generators to sieves and crushers) but can't remember exactly how I had mine setup. I *think* I had the power coming out of the top of the generator like you, but going in to the bottom face of the sieve but can't be sure. So...
