I think I saw a youtuber (can't remember who) who had a similar problem. From memory, only one stack could be automatically inserted into a barrel before it acted as if it were full. He solved it by adding more than one stack to each barrel manually. After that, auto-insertion worked as expected.

As far as I know, either they produce steam or RF but not both at the same time. EDIT: clicked post too quickly! If you want RF, I think you'll have to replace the coolant ports with casing or something else.

Yeah it seems you really have to start the cows as early as possible. And apart from a few fluids only obtainable from the cows, there are usually more efficient/speedy ways of producing resources.

You might be suffering from the mob cap. I'd suggest you need to wander around, as you did before, but kill all other animals you come across to free up the cap. Also, you need to go some distance to allow new mobs to spawn.

Just guessing but maybe because it's been known to cause crashes in certain packs. Regards nerfs, if you have access, try looking at any files that tweak recipes, possibly contained in a /scripts/ folder.

You're probably allocating too much RAM - leaving 2GB for your system is barebones. Also, AFAIK, allocating too much doesn't actually improve things much anyway. Try paring it back to 6-8Gb. One last thing, buildcraft is still in alpha for 1.12 - you might want to drop that until after you see...
