There are 3 tiers of Immersive Engineering wire... Low, Medium and High 'Voltage' (LV, MV, HV) and if you use a weaker tier nothing happens. There are also different tier connection points as well that have to be used appropriately.

That started in at least 1.9, but might have occurred in 1.8 as well.

I think Direwolf used the Industrial Hemp seeds with sugar because they grow faster and are more productive, but that was on Forgecraft.

Remember that the Forge Server is mainly a testing platform for new and updated mods. You might want to check to see if the mod has been updated but not yet in the DW20 pack, and update it yourself if the newer version is available.
