There are many advantages:
Easy way to see/organize Project growth and changes in code (you could keep a vcs just running without pushing to an external server for this though)
People may look at your code and try to help you improve it
Easy and specific (i.e. link to specific code points)...
There are plenty of businesses selling software that's visible source.

Gits interface software isn't arcane (read there is Tower, github desktop, CLI, SourceTree, etc.). On top of that, what's wrong with visible source? There is almost no reason not to use it.
You may be able to make a return on it regularly if you could dig up iron efficiently enough. So for 36 ingots at 5x ore duplication (assuming best case here) you'd need 7.2 ore pieces. For 7.2 ore pieces you'd need to mine about a tenth of a chunk. Assuming you are mining only the iron layer...

I don't care about sg's reasoning, it's probably flawed. I do know that you are grey however, and if you aren't then well there's a 50/50 chance that you're on a team I'm against anyway
