    Upcoming Mod Packs

Actually, I see gates used on cobblestone pipes for outputting redstone signals pretty common. They're good for general automation even if you aren't using BC pipes, since they detect a number of conditions that'd be tricky to get otherwise.

    OpenComputers: Not a ComputerCraft clone

Hopefully linking to the Technic pack forum doesn't cause drama, but that's where I saw the mod topic (via a reddit post whose title I blatantly stole). http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/1-6-4-forge-opencomputers.55582/ Modular computer, a little more balanced in cost, less of "one magic...

    The Ultimate Tinkers Construct Tools

Wait, fortune smelting works on a lumber axe for multiple charcoal?

    Extra Utilities: New Power Generators

According to him in that reddit thread, potion generator gives 2x as much power for each step in the potion, but he also mentioned needing to spend time balancing.

    Extra Utilities: New Power Generators

I'm pretty sure it could also be named "sonic generator", because it's powered by her squees at everything pink.

    Fun With Archimedes Ships

Fairly small, but I'm on 32bit Java. Also, I'm going to test logistics pipes and dimensional doors in 1.6. I just briefly checked them in 1.5.2 and they both didn't work, but there's been some compiling updates since then. I'll let you know how that testing goes. Edit: Annnd both don't work...

    Fun With Archimedes Ships

It's an airship. It's all about the style points anyway. I don't know if engines add maneuverability or just speed, but you could always spawn some in. Unfortunately there's no legit recipe. But yeah, that string cost is quite nasty even with a good farm. I hope in future versions we'll have...

Nice to see you doing some hands on balancing in the boiler efficiency thread. Mod author participation is always nice, but especially for something like that. :)

    Fun With Archimedes Ships

I forgot about Dimensional Doors! I'd briefly tested that when I first tried the mod, but I still don't know enough about them to make it work. Logistics Pipes is another good solution too, but I haven't tested them. Please post what you find by the way.

    Extra Utilities: New Power Generators

Here's the reddit topic for it, for those that are interested. He goes into detail on what they actually are.

    Fun With Archimedes Ships

I haven't had a chance to try Buildcraft piping yet since I've been testing in Horizons, but I'd assume they have the best chance of working. I did try a few others though. Extra Utilities Transfer Pipes: These connect, but nodes on sides get improperly rotated. They appear to work if on top or...

''Test pack please ignore'', the REAL replacement of Ultimate/Unleashed

Unfortunately it doesn't have RotaryCraft (and it sounds like it won't be supported), so I'm sticking with Monster. There wasn't that much in the modlist that would get me to switch. MPS, Binnies, and I believe MFFS (don't quote me on that one though) are supposed to be added to Monster when...

    Fun With Archimedes Ships

Just be aware that Archimedes Ships doesn't handle Thermal Expansion's conduits/ducts too well unfortunately. That bit be earlier. http://i.imgur.com/Gn1ez7L.png

Thermal Expansion 3.0!!! No More Beta! Thanks KL!

Not to mention how much cheaper it is that having to use a diamond/apiarist pipe for something like that early on. I may actually do bees by myself for the first time. Hopefully Binnie's mods get sorted out before Monster comes out. On the topic of TE/CofH mods, Redstone Arsenal looks...

    Persistent Metals in the Smeltery

I don't know of a way to sort liquids, but you can pour them into tanks. I prefer using Thermal Expansion's portable tanks; just be sure to shift+right click them with a crescent hammer. From there, you can use liquiducts to sort them out. Not only can you pump molten metals into any tank, but...

    Horizons: TiC + Metallurgy

I really wish Metallurgy/Extra TiCo had in-game documentation like TiCo has. It would be much easier.

    Fun With Archimedes Ships

Sorry for the double post, but I figured it'd be best to just make this the Archimede's Ships topic rather than post a new one. Anyway... I was on the AS topic on the Minecraft forum, and someone mentioned making metarotation handling files for other mods. Does anyone here know anything about...

So, what is the best tinker's construct melee weapon type?

If you're going sword + scythe, I recommend stacking pistons on the scythe. Last I checked, they could be combined for hilarious effect. You may kill more mobs via fall damage. If you wanted to be effective, you could also toss some blaze powder on there.

    Horizons: TiC + Metallurgy

If you're after platinum, I'd advise silk touching redstone and pulverizing it. It can yield cinnabar, which gives a 100% chance for the pulverizer byproduct with ores in the induction smelter. Obviously ferrous is the main candidate for this anyway, but it makes that setup worth it. It's still...
