It's the tanks that cause this. I usually disable them for that reason

A lot of biome mods seem to love to just eat up my cpu :/ The only one that doesn't seems to be ExtrabiomesXL :P OpenBlocks Tanks are also lag inducing. They're so laggy that I usually disable them entirely. Mo Creatures is also really laggy. Especially in huge packs. Reika's mod also recently...

Something I was thinking of doing for my personal pack is making mana steel actually require steel. It pushes some of the mod to a slightly later point in the game. Sure, it doesn't make it necessarily make the game harder, but it would be interesting.
