[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Only 2 hours? I guess I need to do a better patch for Hats. Hats has two places it can get hats - the Internet, and whatever server you're playing on. Normally, it will try to download every hat that exists from the Internet. The patch disables that. If you're in multiplayer and you load a mob...

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Turns out it was totally my fault, sorry! Download the updated version of Minecraft Forkage to fix it. (I've also added "Delete CustomMainMenu" to the instructions, because the missing texture menu is ugly. I think ResourceLoader is what downloads the main menu textures)

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

I re-installed FTB in a new folder from scratch, and I get the same ClosedChannelException crash. For some reason it doesn't happen to my other installation, perhaps because I've run it normally at least once (without any memory-saving hacks). Stay tuned for a fix.

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

I fixed the instructions in the original post. Do step 4 under "Use Minecraft Forkage", and try starting Minecraft again.

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Oops - guess I forgot a step. The EJML extraction doesn't work in Minecraft Forkage (and I haven't debugged it - I just extracted it manually and forgot about it)

Can you send me the whole log file, please? It should be at FTBInfinity/minecraft/logs/latest.log.

Try removing the -core.jar from the mod list entirely.

1.8: what is holding you back?

Reminds me of how RF replaced IC2 power - and as we all know, there's now no gameplay in power distribution beyond "connect A to B".

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Added a step to save 100MB from Project Red. The heap size at the main menu is now 440MB. You should be able to run the game quite comfortably with 1.0GB.

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Updated Forkage with some more memory saving changes, and added a step to delete JourneyMap (for people who can live without it). Main menu heap size is now about 540MB (about 260MB lower than before). That's weird. What's your operating system and Java version? I don't use MultiMC, but I...

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

I've uploaded a new version of Minecraft Forkage, and updated the link in the OP, to fix a crash when clicking on liquids in TiC smelteries.

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

The 12 next offenders seem to be: Project Red (~140MB of rendering data) @MrTJP JourneyMap (a single ~130MB texture) Forge (~80MB of unused language data for other languages) Forge (~72MB of useless-looking "package owner" data), but might actually be Forkage's fault Steve's Addons (~60MB of...

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

I don't see why not, but I'm not sure what the advantage would be either. From the game directory. By the way, it's currently possible (but undocumented and barely tested) to generate a modpack JAR that you can just double-click, with no launcher. I mean the modpack directory. And did you try...

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Overwriting these files in Decocraft (IIRC, in assets -> props -> models -> Decopack), instead of deleting them, may fix the Decocraft crash (and all Decocraft models will look like stuffed creepers). I can't test it yet, because I can't log into the server I was using to test ("invalid...

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Probably not, it's in non-Minecraft Mojang code. (Specifically, in launchwrapper, for people who know what that is)

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

That was the plan for Minecraft Forkage, and it was for faster startup times and not related to memory usage. It's not the fix I mentioned. Also, for now, it just re-generates the JAR every time. In the future it might only do the setup when mods change, and do more stuff at setup time, like...

[Guide] How to run Infinity Evolved with 1.0GB RAM allocation

Because we all know Infinity Evolved is a memory hog, right? I have 6GB of RAM and I have to close everything else to run it smoothly. Well, it's not the modpack. It's not even the number of mods. It's just a small number of mods being wasteful. Note: That means "RAM maximum" setting (which...

1.8: what is holding you back?

And on 1.7, if I don't want some of the 1.8 content (like the extra stone types that help clog your inventory when mining) I can remove that mod.

1.8: what is holding you back?

You might not need all of them. The original Tekkit pack had only 25 mods.
