When Direwolf20 and Soaryn117 started automating Beef Wellington they used Tofu instead of beef because it was simple and quick to automate.

I don't know what you are talking about, unless it's the new Vanilla Achievements that Mojang changed in Minecraft 1.12. The pack itself is still just a collection of available mods for MC 1.12 that are being watched by FtB to determine what works or doesn't for future packs, and I don't think...

When you watched on YouTube those videos were most likely edited to cut out the scenes of endless sieving :D 2 or 3 STACKS is more normal, if you're very lucky.

Maintained? Yes, for a while. New stuff? No. Most if not all developers have moved away from 1.7 and even 1.10 to work on 1.12 mods.

I think, if you're using the same mods they had, that Direwolf20 and Soaryn117 found that "Beef Wellington" was the most 'nourishing' food for the least amount of effort, both for players and in energy production. They've fully automated it several times.

Check Direwolf20's Let's Play videos. His recently completed Season 8 (Direwolf20 1.10.2 pack) automated Canola all the way and he is just starting to automate it from scratch in his new "Age of Engineering" series (also 1.10.2). This iteration will probably use the new "cloche"(is that right?)...

Actually, to play it safe maybe just rename it to "file.OldCfg". That way the program thinks it needs a new one and generates it but you still have the original if something doesn't go right.

From what I've been seeing in tweets from the Forge developers it appears that 1.13 has some internal changes that may really stand modding on it's head... I expect 1.12 to be a "breather zone" until they get a handle on what's coming.
