You could interchange between types of machine blocks and electronic circuits to reduce costs & junk that needs sorting. Cant really think of more as of now.

You could use universal power cables from mekanism(UE), works with any kind of power(ic2,bc, ue and mekanism power)and at any voltage(as much as i understand it gives every machine the exact voltage level that it can handle). There are also those energy cubes that function as a universal power...

Just to add to that, you could also use the latest dev version of MCEdit, just make sure that you're only using the chunk selection tool to delete the chunks and you don't modify single blocks or else it might cause some strange stuff to happen
