So its been a year or so i have been gone due to real life, busy times. Things have slowed down and i thought why not maybe start up a private server with some old buddies, or may lead to another public server.
Here is where i need help. It seems bukkit, MCPC + its all gone? I cant seem to get into anything that i used to use to custom the server public or private.
What is getting used now? Just forge mods? Or just FTB packs the way they are? Is there a way to use like what bukkit or MCPC was? Like to add some protection, maybe also teli (/sethome /home) type plugins, permissions. Or whats best now a days to use on server.
I am having no luck to find whats working, or whats still around with low impact on server load.

Can anyone help guide me in the right direction of whats getting used with current FTB packs now, to spice up and have some commands and protection type stuff to add to server thats client freindly? I know how to set most stuff up, and deal with files, just need a bump / link to what everyone uses now since it seems bukkit and MCPC+ is dead, offline or gone forever? If you want to only use Forge you could use MyTown2 for protection and SpawnCommands mod to add homes and tpa. You should be able to use either ForgeEssentials or ServerTools to configure permissions.

If you want to use Bukkit plugins you need Cauldron or KCauldron.

Ok, thanks mc.crab. I am messing with it now, For some reason its not loading server with forge essen. right off the start, lol. So ill mess with it , then i will try the Mytown2. I am sure i am just placing it in the wrong folder (mods) or its a version issue. Thanks for the info!

If you are using kcauldron you can't use ForgeEssentials with it. Both ForgeEssentials and MyTown2 go in mods folder.

It would create the Forge Essent. folder, but then it just throws some kind of error, and stops loading. That is with it in the mods main folder or in the 1.7.10 folder, inside the mods folder. It happens with up to date, and the next version down with Forge Essent 1.7.10-1.4.3.936. Maybe ill try the Kcaauldron approach. Thanks again for the help mc.crab.

IIRC there are two downloads for Forge Essentials - client and server. Dumb question, but are you using the right one?

Sorry for delay, we had trees fall over lines in a storm on thursday, and just got internet back yesterday. Anyways , here is the log. This is with Rec version .1.6.1 Direwolf 20 pack 1.7.10 , using Forge essentials jar file inside the mods folder, name of it is( forgeessentials-1.7.10-1.4.3.958-server). Thanks in advance. PS: i read somewhere fastcraft mod may mess with it, i tried it without it, but did same thing.
Also i tried skipping it and doing just the Mytown instead for now, but then it wanted my permissions and my essentials, but never last , that did not go well either. So im not sure if i have lost my touch? I have the wrong versions to use with what forge version? Should i be using java 7? Had java 8, but thought that may have been why...nope. Thanks again

Yeah , i made sure if there was a client and server version , i picked server. I been getting the files from the curse page. Hope thats right? lol

I haven't used the ForgeEssentials myself, but there here are some thoughts/questions:
  • Are you running the pack as a server, or are you running it single player? Not sure if it makes a difference, but it could. If you aren't running the pack as a server give it a try.
  • Based on the traces it is getting a variety of class not found errors that look suspicious. Would be best to post the full forge log (pastebin, etc.) and link it to the forum.
  • And yes, FastCraft and ForgeEssentials have conflicts. The ForgeEssentials guys and Player are working on it from what I read.

Remove FastCraft, I got the same result when I tried to run the server, after removing FastCraft it worked just fine.

Thanks for your replys. So yeah, as i was reading this thinking,so you say remove fast craft huh? I have done all ready tried this..... but then i went back and looked fast craft was back in the files! I did not remove the config file for fast craft , and i guess on restart the server brought it back? Removed both the files then tried it and it is now working! yay. Thanks again for all the help, hopefully its smooth sailing putting in My Town 2, lol : )
