So I am not sure if this would be a tech question or Mod Pak question, but I am posting it here.

As Optifine (or whatever it is) is not part of the FTB Beta, I would like to add it as it does give me more options and things I would like to have with my MC game. I see posts all the time around here about how I can "just add it" and everything will be working as expected. Am I just being dim, or is there something special I need to do to include it? No matter if I add it directly to the MC jar, or drop it in one of the mod folders I see other mods in, do I get it to load up with the rest of FTB.

So, long story short, how can I Optifine or other mods into my FTB copy and actually get them to work through the loader?

Import the FTB .minecraft folder into multimc.

    go to Edit Mods

    Click the "Jar" tab

Click the button labled "MCForge" to the right

Choose the most current version of Forge and add it in.

Still in the jar tab add the optifine mod zip .

You need to install Forge prior to adding optifine because otherwise Forge will overwrite optifine negating the install.

Other mods go in the appropriate folder(s)

You cannot add jar mods using the launcher. It does not work. The launcher overwrites the bin file. To add optifine you must take the .minecraft created with the BETA launcher and import it into multimc. The launcher techs have tested every method of doing this with the launcher. They are working on fixing this, but for now multimc is needed for installing optifine.

Thank you for the details - I wasn't sure if I needed to take it "out" of the launcher or not!
Optifine is NOT going to be included, right? Is there something else going to be added to handle HD fonts at all? That's the main reason I want it... that, and the option to add other mods my group/server may want to use.

Um... how do I do this? I see nothing in MultiMC to "import"... or am I just being a newb again?

With the new launcher all you have to do is add it to the instMods folder in the Launcher directory

Rei's is being reported frequently as incompatible with the current version of Forge. Some people are being able to get optifine to work using the instMods folder. I have not been able to do so. However as can be seen in my livestreams I do have optifine installed. I installed it through MultiMc with the steps in the tutorial. If neither of these ways work I am afraid I have no idea how to fix it.

Try downgrading the Forge version using MultiMC to an earlier version for 1.4.2. It worked for me when I tried to install optifine.

I downgraded Forge to 353 using MultiMC and Optifine and Rei's work, if Rei doesnt show up press m to bring up the menu as mine started disabled.
