I am brand new to FTB and the forums, and I want to know what modpack I should start playing with. I would like it to be a 1.7.* modpack that is not too resource intensive, as I can only allocate 2 GB of ram to the launcher.

Also, 2 GB is enough for most ftb packs so do not worry about that. Your cpu will more likely be the "bottleneck" in performance, as late game modded worlds really hurt that poor little chip no matter how good it is

Welcome! Also, I have to disagree with gold here. 2GB is best suited to lite packs, really. I recommend 4GB for most FTB packs.

Is this RAM inside the computer? or allocated to ftb, Because I only give 2 GB max to every modpack I play and have yet to run into any issues.

Ah, in the computer - Allocation's just to taste. I've always found that 4GB is the best to use.
